Labs & Network

A network you can hold to a specification.

A recipe is worthless if nobody can make it. We check labs, pilot kitchens, factories and ingredient suppliers on what they can actually do.

The network

Four kinds of partner, four different jobs.

Most brands find these one at a time, over years, by asking around. The network means your Buildfile™ has somewhere to go the day it is done.

01

Laboratories

Testing for nutrition, microbiology, safety, shelf-life and taste. Where a test needs an NABL-accredited lab, it goes to one. We pick the tests rather than ordering everything, and we read the results against your spec instead of forwarding them. Invoiced at lab cost.

02

Pilot facilities

Kitchens and pilot plants that can make the first real version at a sensible size, and write down what actually happened — trial records, deviation logs, process parameters observed rather than assumed.

03

Manufacturers

Factories matched on four things: what they can make, how much, what they are certified for, and their minimum order. Those four decide whether a factory is real or a wasted month.

04

Ingredient partners

Suppliers for the ingredients a recipe needs, with allowed levels, paperwork and current price visible while you are still designing it. Substitutes qualified in advance, cost impact modelled before commitment.

Qualification

Five gates, and most facilities do not clear all five.

A partner is approved for a specific category and a specific job, not in general. The same factory can be right for a sauce and wrong for a gummy.

01

Capability — a plant that makes powders is not a gummy line

Can this facility make this kind of product? Equipment, process, format and the technical range it can genuinely hold — established by specification, not by a capability deck.

02

Capacity — right process, wrong scale, still a no

Can it make your volume, at your batch size, when you need it? A facility that can technically make your product but only at ten times your MOQ is not an option.

03

Certification — expired is the same as absent

Licences, category-specific certifications and audit status verified against documents, and re-verified rather than assumed to still be current.

04

Quality system — one good batch proves nothing

Whether they can hit the same spec batch after batch. Incoming checks, in-process control, records, and what they do when something is off.

05

Commercial fit — technical fit does not survive bad terms

Terms, MOQ, lead time and how they behave when something goes wrong. The last one is the hardest to check and the most expensive to get wrong.

Qualification is per category and per capability, and it is re-checked when a partner takes on your work. A facility that cleared the gates for a beverage two years ago is not automatically cleared for your nutraceutical today.

On the ground

The part of product development that still has to be physical.

Capability is a fact, not a claim. Equipment, throughput, certification and the categories a facility can genuinely hold — checked before your specification ever reaches it.

What it does for you

Three services the network exists to make possible.

01

Manufacturer matching

Your specification tested against capability, capacity, certification and MOQ across the network, returning a shortlist that survives a technical conversation.

02

Lab testing & validation

The right panel selected, samples routed, results interpreted against your specification and out-of-spec results flagged rather than forwarded.

03

Factory activation

Specification transferred, process parameters aligned, QC agreed and the factory taken through to a validated first batch.

Each of these is a service you can buy on its own — scope, deliverables and price are listed on Pricing — or run as part of a Build.

Your choice

Use our network, or bring your own.

We are not trying to lock you into our suppliers. If you already have a lab or a factory you trust, we work through it.

Through the Bettrlabs network

At lab cost

We choose the panel, so you do not over-test

Samples routed and chased on your behalf

Results read against your specification

Charges approved by you, invoiced at cost

Through your own facility

Your invoices

We write the protocol and brief your team

Your existing relationships stay intact

Results interpreted the same way

No Bettrlabs charge on your own facility

Lab, pilot and factory charges are approved by you before they are committed and invoiced at what they cost. External charges are passed to you as they are invoiced to us.

Straight answer

We do not publish a logo wall.

A count of partners and a wall of logos tells you nothing about whether a factory can make your product. These three things do, and you can check them.

6
Categories the network is qualified against — Snacks & Foods, Beverages, Nutrition & Supplements, Sauces & Condiments, Personal Care and Nutraceutical.
5
Gates a facility clears before it sees your specification, re-checked per category rather than granted once.
At cost
External lab, pilot and factory charges are approved by you before they are committed, and passed through as invoiced.

Under a Co-Build or Enterprise agreement, the specific facilities qualified for your categories are named in your SKU Build Plan — before you commit to anything. Run a lab, a plant or supply ingredients? Apply to the network.

Next

The network only matters once you have something to make.

Start with the formulation. The manufacturing route is a question we answer once the product is worth building.
